Dr. English has served on the Board of the National Perinatal Information Center since 2013. Dr. English received a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University 1972 followed by his MD degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1976. He completed an Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Magee-Womens Hospital, 1976-1980 serving as Chief Resident 1979-1980. Dr. English is Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed a Masters of Medical Management degree at Carnegie Mellon University in 1999. He is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and a diplomat of the American College of Physician Executives.

Dr. English, now retired, is Clinical Professor Emeritus of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Vice Chairman of Clinical Operations of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences of the University Of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. In his tenure at Magee Womens Hospital, Dr. English served as the Vice President of Medical Affairs, Chief Medical Officer, Medical Director for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety and Physician Advisor to the Health Management Department. Dr. English currently serves on the Board of Directors of UPMC Magee Womens Hospital.
